Content works

I’m a creature of habit, so having chosen to go on a mini-break I picked somewhere I’d been before and I know I like – Criccieth in north Wales, right on the edge of Snowdonia National Park.

While I was there, I set myself a number of things to do, to keep me occupied.

One of the days was dedicated to visiting Nant Gwrtheyrn, a Welsh language centre and abandoned old quarry, and Ty Coch Inn – a stunning pub sat in front of a stretch of sandy beach, in a quiet bay (with a walk alongside a sweeping coastal golf course to get there).

It’s not exactly easy to get to and it could certainly be considered a bit out of the way.

So, how do I know about it?
Content.

It was voted the third best beach bar in the world.
You can see for yourself here, here, and here.

It’s beautiful. You can get a pint and go an sit on the beach with your feet in the sand.
And the beach itself is packed – as much with dogs as with people. When I went, it was only about 12 degrees (and you weren’t allowed in the pub itself, they had a shack set up) and the place was still heaving.

And everyone you speak to knows why you’re there:
‘Did you hear it’s the third best beach ba…’
‘Yes’ (roll of the eyes).

It just goes to show that content works and how it can enhance your reputation and bring business.
The only downside is that locals have lost their little slice of paradise to the influx of tourists who flock there, but it’s a small price to pay and it more than keeps the place running.

If you want to know what it’s like, and fancy a visit, here are a few photos for your viewing pleasure, including a charming shot of my foot. Enjoy.
